Boulder International Film Festival

In the darkness of a cozy winter night, during a weekend celebration of dead Presidents, stars descend on the eve of romances delight, to unfurled red velvet carpets at the old western opera house. All are here for the 10th annual Boulder International Film Festival . Now a Boulder tradition, over Presidents Day weekend, near Valentine’s Day and just before the Oscars ceremony, the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) shines the spotlight of celebration on extraordinary but unknown feature films, documentaries and shorts. Many have a message, a call to action and all have a story of significance to share with the hearts of us all.

Over four days, February 13th to February16th BIFF will show about 50 films from around the world. BIFF brings films, filmmakers and international fans together for a four-day celebration on the fine art of story making. All shows are on a variety of screens centrally located in beautiful downtown Boulder, Colorado including at the historic refurbished opera house, the Boulder Theater , which, btw- has a full bar that serves drinks during the screenings.

The attention an audience at BIFF gives to an early screening can lead it to greater box office showings, Oscar nominations and increased social action. BIFF attracts over 20,000 film enthusiasts each year. BIFF has hosted and celebrated some of film’s most talented artists, including award-winning actors like Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen, William H. Macy, Blythe Danner, Maria Bello, James Franco, Peter Fonda, and Chevy Chase. Many other independent film artists and special guests have been honored including Oliver Stone, Lawrence Kasdan (the Big Chill), Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Michael and Mark Polish (Northfork), Presidential Medal of Freedom honoree Congressman John Lewis (Freedom Riders), and writer John August (Big Fish).

The best part of the festival is the mingling of the audience, film makers and industry leaders all hungry for that satisfying meaningful story. BIFF delivers both the stories to feed the soul and delicious food and wine at its after show parties. Come feast locally upon stories that help us all act to save the world.
