Everyone knows Boulder is known for its great taste in food and beer. Restaurants and bars constantly try to wow their customers with tastes that are hard to find anywhere else. Another fact about Boulder that is not as widely known is that wine has made a major impact on the city as well. Boulder has a large number of Sommeliers pouring at numerous restaurants throughout the area. As wine has begun to make an impact, festivals and seminars about all the types of wine have become popular. One of the most popular events is the Burgundy Wine Festival held right here in the heart of Boulder.
Each year, top Burgundy producers and leading wine professionals from across the country, come together for the annual festival. This year a group of 17 featured sommeliers will showcase their talents by introducing numerous wines, and teaching pairings for each meal of the day.
“As a retailer of fine wines,” says Master Sommelier and Boulder Wine Merchant owner Brett Zimmerman, “it is impossible not to love the spectacular wines of Burgundy. The greatest tragedy of loving these wines is not tasting the great ones often enough. Selfishly, we thought hosting a Burgundy Festival would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate the wines of the region by tasting and sharing them with some of our friends, customers, restaurateurs, suppliers, and producers. During this three-day extravaganza we will be able to drink some of the rarest wines of Burgundy due largely in part to the amazing generosity of our supplier partners.”
The three-day celebration of Burgundy wines includes tastings and seminars with winemakers and top U.S. wine directors, as well as wine dinners hosted by Boulder’s best restaurants.
This is the fourth year of the Burgundy Wine Festival in Boulder. Each year percentages of proceeds go towards featured foundations. This year those proceeds will go towards the Davis Phinney Foundation and the Growe foundation.
This year’s featured events begin Friday November 21st at Frasca at 11:00am. Seminars and meal pairings will continue Friday night through Sunday November 23rd ending with a grand tasting in the Grand Ballroom at The Hotel Boulderado. Other featured restaurants include Flagstaff and the Kitchen Upstairs.
