What do a half a million Lego bricks look like? Hit the Bricks! and discover a hidden gem in CU’s Heritage Center’s Lego replica of the University of Colorado’s campus.
This $45,000 twelve foot by seventeen foot Lego display is a whimsical look at iconic campus buildings including Old Main, Macky Auditorium, the Mary Rippon Theatre and Folsom Field. The football stadium alone has approximately a quarter million Lego bricks and weighs several hundred pounds. Many aspects of campus life are re-created here as well as a mosaic of the glorious Boulder Flatirons.
Lego bricks had to be shipped from eight countries to build this one thousand pound display. Hit the Bricks is infused with strikingly life-like detail as well as child like fun. This is not a static exhibit. It will grow every year. A Lego Fiske Planetarium and Main Street of University Hill are slated for completion next. Come and see for yourself what campus you can build with half a million Lego bricks.
About a mile away from the Boulder Inn the Heritage Center http://cuheritage.org/hit-bricks/ is located on the third floor of Old Main on the University of Colorado Boulder campus and is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
